The Ireland Senior Men’s Hockey team and the women’s ‘A’ side will both travel to Cardiff this weekend to play fixtures against Wales.
Both senior Irish squads have taken a break from competitive action since the Celtic C in July and the senior women are due to extend that break with just the ‘A’ side set to play the upcoming series.
Speaking the men’s squad selection, coach Dave Passmore said: 'This squad has been selected for development and assessment, giving a broader group of players the opportunity to impress before a panel is chosen for next year's important season which includes the European Trophy and world cup qualification tournaments.'
Ireland women’s ‘A’ coach Guy Garrett also said that he hoped the tour would give players the chance to develop.
He commented: 'These competitions are very important for the development of our Ireland 'A' players. An opportunity to play a senior team is always welcome and we have a strong squad to compete against Wales.'
