The 2008 ESB Irish Senior Cup saw the clash of two Ulster teams, Ballymoney and Pegasus.
The game started off with an even tone with the opening moments providing goal scoring opportunities for both sides but it was Pegasus who were first to convert in the 10th minute when an excellent side step from Speers opened up a pass into the circle for Claire McMahon to latch onto for a splendid strike.
Despite winning six penalty corners, the Ballymoney defence marshalled by Ireland's McKeever held strong and the first half closed out one nil to the reigning champions Pegasus.
The second half saw some great goal mouth action as both sides created chances in the circle in this fast paced match.
Ballymoney found their equaliser in the 41st minute when they won their first and only corner of the match an excellent execution found Nikki McCaughern on the end for a great strike to draw the game level at one all.
The draw was short-lived and Pegasus responded two minutes later when McMahon found herself in a one on one with the keeper as she rounded the keeper for a top class finish into the roof of the net to give her side a 2-1 lead.
Ballymoney were given a golden opportunity to equalise once again when awarded a penalty stroke, which experienced McVicker uncharacteristically put high and wide.
Ballymoney continued to pile on the pressure for the closing moments of the match but today was not their day and Pegasus left worthy champions
