The International Hockey Federation's Disciplinary Commission will meet at the end of this month in Brussels regarding Lithuania's official protest over the result of their qualifying tie with Ireland in September.
Lithuania was considered to have withdrawn from the final stages of the Women's World Cup Qualifier in Amiens/Abbeville, France in September, when it refused to accept the Tournament Director's ruling that a penalty shootout to decide the outcome of the game would have to be taken again after Ireland lodged a complaint over the order in which the penalty strokes were taken. The Balkan country had won the initial shootout but refused to turn up the following day for the second series of penalty strokes.
As a result of a subsequent protest from the Lithuanian Hockey Federation, FIH Hon.Secretary General, Peter Cohen has requested the FIH Disciplinary Commission to consider and arbitrate on the issue.
