In the third round of the Irish mens Hockey Cup the holders Cork Church of Ireland won 3 - 1 away to Newry. Two Ulster clubs won in Dublin, Annadale beating Three Rock Rovers 3-1 and Instonians beating Glenanne 1-0. Cork Harlequins beat YMCA 2-1, Avoca won 4-0 away to Belvedere and among the big scorers were Banbridge who hit 13 past poor St James' Gate while Railway Union beat Ashton 8-2 and Lisnagarvey beat Aer Lingus 8-0.
