Séamus Power saved his best until last with his lowest round of the week the Charles Schwab Challenge where Russell Henley reeled off four successive birdies – the last at the first play-off hole – to take victory.

The Waterford native slumped to a four-over par 74 on Saturday at the at Colonial Country Club in Texas, but a final round 68 saw him finish on one under and a tie for 54th overall.

FINAL LEADERBOARD

Level par at the turn, a miscued chip onto the green at the par-4 10th saw him drop a shot, before finishing with three birdies in his final four holes.

Henley took the honours in Texas however, his first victory in 14 months and sixth overall on the PGA Tour was secured after a final-round 67 got him to 12 under.

Overnight leader Eric Cole shot a level-par 70, having failed to chip in from the greenside rough at the last to close out his maiden win in regulation play.

Both went back down the 18th and Henley's brilliant approach to inside five feet was enough as Cole lost in a play-off for the second time in three years.

Henley’s first five holes were chaotic, starting eagle-birdie followed by three successive bogeys, and he dropped another at the ninth only to come home with four birdies.
