Kato Kaneko kept his cool to secure his first DP World Tour title at the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbuhel Tirol.
The Japanese 23-year-old was a picture of consistency at Golfclub Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith following three successive 65s before grinding out a closing 67 to win by two shots at 18 under.
Kaneko, who graduated to this level after topping Japan Golf Tour's Order of Merit last season, rode his luck at the last when he overshot the par-three green and hit the stand, with the ball racing towards the water hazard.
However, the ball held up in the thick rough and got up and down for a par to seal his maiden DP World Tour crown on just his 12th appearance.
"I just can’t believe it, I didn’t think I would win and I’m still very surprised," Kaneko said. "I knew I hit it hard (at the last), but it went in so I was lucky."
