Leona Maguire carded a one-over par 71 in her opening round of the Queen City Championship in Ohio, one shot ahead of compatriot Lauren Walsh.
The Irish pair were among the early finishers at Maketewah Country Club where the club house lead was shared by Korean pair Ina Yoon and Chella Choi on four under.
Birdies at the sixth and par-3 ninth saw Maguire reach the turn at two over, and from there it was steady all the way before closing with a birdie, where blustery conditions ensured scoring opportunities were at a premium.
Walsh dropped shots at the second, ninth and 13th holes, with her sole birdie coming at the sixth on her way to a 72.
Defending champion Charley Hull navigated windy conditions to post a two-under 68.
