Leona Maguire finished towards the back of the pre-cut field as her tournament at the Mizuho Americas Open drew to a premature conclusion.
After an opening 76 in New Jersey, the Cavan golfer had work to do to be around for the weekend but a 77 saw her finish on nine-over par, a whopping 17 shots off halfway leader, and defending champion, Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul.
Maguire needed a fast start but had quite the opposite as she triple-bogeyed the first, and another four bogeys would follow – all fives – with birdies at the eighth and 16th providing some relief.
World no. 2 Thitikul built a three-stroke lead as she attempts to go back-to-back.
Thitikul won the event last year at Liberty National Golf Club before it was moved to Mountain Ridge Country Club.
Her three-under-par 69 in the second round lifted her to eight under, with Jennifer Kupcho the next closest at five under. Brooke Matthews is alone in third at four under.
Andrea Lee, who claimed the first-round lead with a 66, followed it up with a second-round 79 that left her one over for the tournament.
