Mickelson has pulled out due to a 'personal health matter with his family'

Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from next week's PGA Championship at Aronimink for family reasons.

A statement from the PGA of America revealed that the two-time winner had pulled out because of a "personal health matter with his family". He has been replaced by fellow American Max Homa.

Mickelson has appeared in just one of LIV Golf’s six tournaments in 2026 and also missed the Masters because of a family health matter.

He is twice a winner of the PGA Championship, having won in 2005 at Baltusrol and then, memorably, as a 50-year old in Kiawah Island in 2021. In the process, he became the oldest ever winner of a men's major.
