Aine Donegan sits seven shots off the lead after day one

Aine Donegan is the best of the Irish after the first round of the MCB Ladies Classic in Mauritius.

Donegan endured a mixed round, including five birdies and four bogeys, to finish with a one-under-par round of 71, seven shots off leader Agathe Laisne of France, who also tops the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit.

Laisne is one stroke clear of South African Cara Gorlei, with Smilla Tarning Soenderby of Denmark third on six under.

There are three other Irish competitors in the 54-hole event, with Anna Foster on even par, Olivia Mehaffey on two over and Annabel Wilson a shot further back on three over.

Diksha Dagar hit the shot of the day for the opening round, a hole in one on the 11th hole, and finished four under.
