Ryder Cup tickets made exclusively available to Irish fans, priced at €499 each, sold out in under an hour on Friday.
A limited number of tickets for the 100th anniversary of the tournament, which will take place at Adare Manor in Co Limerick in September 2027, went on sale for people in Ireland a month before the ballot opens to supporters across the world. They were swiftly snapped up, while practice day (€89) and weekly tickets (€1,999) sold out in under four hours.
The €499 ticket price is less than last year's showpiece at Bthpage in New York (€640) but is a record high for the event in Europe. The 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome had general tickets available from €260.
Over 150,000 people had pre-registered for early access, with a limited number of tickets available from 11am on Friday morning. They were gone by midday.
Those unsuccessful will have a second chance in the full public ballot which opens on Wednesday 3 June.
Richard Atkinson, the European Tour Group's Chief Ryder Cup Officer, said: "The demand from fans across the island of Ireland has been unprecedented. We know that Irish golf fans are amongst the most enthusiastic in the world and this is yet another reminder of that.
"We also look forward to the start of June when, in addition to Irish residents getting a second chance, fans from around the world will get their opportunity to be part of this great sporting occasion."
Europe will be aiming to win a third Ryder Cup on the bounce following victories in 2023 at Marco Simone in Rome and in 2025 at a fiery Bethpage.
Luke Donald led Team Europe on both of those occasions and will return as captain in Adare Manor.
