Matt Fitzpatrick opened up a three shot lead ahead of the final round of the RBC Heritage, though world number one Scottie Scheffler moved ominously into the frame behind him.

The 2022 US Open champion overcame a messy front nine, which included three bogeys, to post a three under par score, with an eagle at the par five 15th helping to give him some separation from the chasing pack heading into Sunday.

However, four-time major winner Scheffler now heads that chasing pack after a seven under par 64 on Saturday, which commenced with a birdie blitz, five coming in the first six holes.

His momentum stalled around the turn, however the Texan, who made a late surge to finish runner-up to Rory McIlroy in Augusta, finished with a flourish with birdies on 16 and 18 to reach 14 under par, three adrift of Fitzpatrick.
