Jordan Gumberg shot a second round of 66 to lead by two strokes at the halfway stage of the Hainan Classic.
After finishing Thursday's first round with five consecutive birdies, the 30-year-old added four more on his front nine on Friday. A bogey at the 10th was the one blemish on his card as he added three more birdies to reach 14 under par for the tournament.
Spain’s Jorge Campillo followed his opening 65 with a 67 to lie second on 12 under, with South African pair Thriston Lawrence and Dylan Frittelli a further two shots back.
