A bogey-free 68 ensured Séamus Power safely made the cut at the halfway stage of the Valspar Championship, where Sungjae Im leads the way on nine-under par.
The Waterford man opened with a 72 at Innisbrook Resort to sit on one-over overnight, but enjoyed a better round on Friday.
A steady run of pars was followed by a birdie at the par-three eighth, where a 12ft putt had the 39-year-old moving in the right direction.
Power picked up further shots at 12 and 13 to move to two under, with the cut line at +1. He sits seven off the lead where Im holds a one-stroke lead going into Saturday.
The South Korean rolled in a seven-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole to grab the halfway lead.
Im, who entered the day with a two-shot lead, drifted down the leaderboard by going out in 37 on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. However, he regained momentum with consecutive birdies at 11 and 12 before sticking his tee shot tight on the difficult 180-yard par-3 17th.
He ended the day with a 69 and is a shot clear of David Lipsky, who carded a 65 during the morning wave on Friday. Another shot back are Doug Ghim and Chandler Blanchet.
Xander Schauffele, the top-ranked player in the field was at five under before bogeying three of his final seven holes. He sits in a tie for 27th at two under.
