Darcey Harry from Wales leads after the opening round of the Women's Australian Open, with the Irish trio of Anna Foster, Annabel Wilson and Aine Donegan well down the field.

Harry, a winner on the Ladies European Tour (LET) at last year's Hulencourt Women’s Open, shot a 66 in a round that contained an eagle at the final hole, the par-five ninth. The 22-year-old also carded four birdies, leaving her on six under, a shot clear of Germany's Alexandra Försterling, who also posted an eagle to conclude her day.

One back from Försterling in solo third on four-under par is USA’s Anna Morgan. The rookie carded the best round of the afternoon in windy conditions finishing with a birdie at the par-five 9th.

In a tie for fourth on three under sit six players: Austria’s Emma Spitz, Australia’s Kelsey Bennett, Italy’s Alessandra Fanali, England’s Annabell Fuller plus French duo Agathe Laisne and Celine Herbin.

Anna Foster is four over after round of 76 that began with triple-bogey eight at the first. She bogeyed the second before double-bogeying the fourth. Relief came with a birdie on six before giving the shot back on eight. On the back nine she mixed the good with the not-so good, with a couple of birdies and as many bogeys.

Annabel Wilson posted a 77, while Áine Donegan signed for an 80.
