Shane Lowry produced a superb round of 63 to power his way to the top of the leaderboard at the Cognizant Classic at Palm Beach Gardens.
Lowry started the day six shots off a lead held by Austin Smotherman, but quickly set about reducing that deficit as he birdied the first, fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth holes to make the turn at five under par.
Another birdie followed on the 10th, and he picked up two more shots on the final two holes on a blemish-free round that moves him to 13 under.
The 2019 Open winner sits at the top of the standings alongside Smotherman, who carded a 69, and one clear of Colombia's Nico Echavarria.
"I holed a few nice putts at the start," said Lowry. "Then I started hitting the ball really well and giving myself lots of chances and converted a few and I felt like it was just a really nice solid round of golf.
"Birdieing the last two was kind of the icing on the cake."
Séamus Power carded his worst round of the tournament with a 73 that sees him 11 shots behind Lowry and in a tie for 38th.
The Waterford native opened with successive bogeys and was three over at the turn.
It was a steadier back nine, a birdie at 10 given back at the 13th, but the 38-year-old finished well with a superb approach shot allowing him to successfully land a seven-foot putt for birdie.
