Mark Power remains in contention in Kenya

Mark Power produced a brilliant third round to keep alive his hopes of a first DP World Tour win at the Magical Kenya Open.

The Kilkenny man, who only arrived at the venue on Tuesday after receiving a sponsor's invitation, shot a round of 66 to leave him five shots behind the leaders – South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and Spain’s Angel Ayora – who sit on 17-under par to keep his hopes alive ahead of Sunday's finale.

Just like he did in his second round, Power picked up a birdie at the second hole but he gave that back at the fourth.

Power made his move around the turn though with birdies at the ninth, 10th and 11th with another arriving at the 15th hole.

The 16th, a favourable hole all week with birdies in his first two rounds, proved difficult on Saturday as he suffered a bogey, but a closing birdie saw him move to 12-under for the tournament.

Jarvis shared the lead with Niklas Lemke after day one, with Frederic Lacroix through two rounds and now Ayora after shooting 66 to the Spaniard’s 64.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Both players are seeking their first win on the DP World Tour and they will not be alone in that goal on Sunday, with Davis Bryant and Hennie Du Plessis one shot back and none of the top eight having won before.

Francesco Laporta ended the day alone in fifth on 15-under par with England’s Nathan Kimsey 14-under par alongside Jacob Skov Olesen and Ricardo Gouveia.

Antoine Rozner’s three titles make the Frenchman the only previous DP World Tour winner among the top 11.
