Lauren Walsh is sitting close to the leader

Lauren Walsh made a flying start in the Saudi Ladies International at Riyadh Golf Club this morning, sitting three shots off the clubhouse lead.

Walsh, who bagged a LPGA Tour card last December through her performance in qualifying, shot a five-under-par 67 on the first day of the European Tour event.

The Kildare golfer was bogey-free in the round, notching birdies at the third, fifth, sixth, 14th and 17th hole.

South Korea's Hye-Jin Choi and England's Mimi Rhodes share the lead on eight-under after carding 64s

Japan's Chizzy Iwai sits one shot back in second place, with Manon De Roey and Patty Tavatanakit in a tie for third on six-under.

Dublin's Anna Foster sits on two-under after hitting a 70.
