Ryo Hisatsune went bogey-free in his second round

Ryo Hisatsune took a one-shot lead at the Phoenix Open after carding a bogey-free eight-under 63 in the second round.

The Japanese golfer especially showed his composure on the 17th hole, chipping in for birdie despite finding water.

Former winner Hideki Matsuyama enjoyed a blistering start with six early birdies but was eventually eclipsed by Hisatsune and ended the day in second place.


LEADERBOARD


Chris Gotterup and Pierceson Cody share third spot on eight under, with a group of five players a shot further back including Matt Fitzpatrick and Si-Woo Kim.

Meanwhile, world number one Scottie Scheffler made the cut after carding a six-under 65, which was a drastic turnaround from his opening score of 73
