American Davis Riley had a strong finishing stretch to shoot a 67 and claim a two-shot lead through the third round of the Sony Open on a day where Séamus Power struggled to make up ground on those above him.
A double bogey at the second was not the start Power wanted and while he picked up a shot at the fourth, dropped shots followed on 10 and 14. He did birdie to par-five 18th to sign for a 72, leaving him on level par.
Riley, on 12 under, began the round with bogeys on two of the first three holes. He finished by playing the last seven holes in four under, including consecutive birdies on 14 and 15. He also birdied the last.
Chris Gotterup (68), Kevin Roy (69) and Harry Hall (66) share second place at 10 under. Ryan Gerard (68), John Parry (69) and Canada's Nick Taylor (70), the defending champion, are three strokes back.
The best rounds of the day were turned in by Canada's Corey Conners and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama with 65s. Conners moved to eight under, while Matsuyama is is on six under.
