Séamus Power carded a 71 to lie on two under at the halfway mark of the Sony Open in Hawaii, with five players in a share of the lead on nine under.

Power, who opened up with a 67 at the PGA Tour's season-opening tournament in Honolulu, eagled his final hole, sinking a 21-foot putt, after in a round where six bogeys blotted his card.

The heroics at the last ensured the Waterford native made the cut with a shot to spare.

Defending champion Nick Taylor is one of the quintet at the head of affairs.

A bogey at the par-three 17th saw him relinquish the lead as the Canadian signed for a 69.


LEADERBOARD


Davis Riley (64), SH Kim (68), Adrien Dumont (67) and Kevin Roy (69) are also on the nine-under mark.

Maverick McNealy, Takumi Kanaya, John Parry, and Chris Gotterup are a shot off the lead.
