World number 713 Christiaan Burke shared the lead with Eugenio Chacarra as Brandon Robinson Thompson led the British challenge at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg.

Spaniard Chacarra shot 63, making eight birdies, an eagle and just one bogey.

Burke amazingly birdied his first six holes – "Always fun, a six-birdie start," he joked afterwards – and a birdie-eagle finish took him alongside Chacarra at the summit.

Fellow South Africans Thriston Lawrence and Brandon Stone were one off the lead on eight under, with Robinson Thompson a shot further back – sharing fifth place with three more home players in Branden Grace, Daniel van Tonder and Samuel Simpson – after two eagles in his 65.
