Seamus Power got off to a strong start at the season-ending RSM Classic in Georgia, the Waterford golfer posting a six-under-par 64 as he scraps to retain his tour card for the 2026 season.

Power enters the final week in 129th place in the FedEx Fall standings, with the top 100 securing full PGA Tour status for next year, while the top 125 gain conditional PGA Tour status.

With the tournament played across two courses at South Sea Island Resort, Power began on the par-70 Seaside Course, registering seven birdies with just a solitary bogey at the 10th to sit tied-15th.

Power was the fifth best performer on the Seaside Course, with Doug Ghim setting the pace with a 10-under-par opening 60.

Ghim is tied at the head of the field alongside Davis Thompson and Rico Hoey, both of are on 10-under after recording rounds of 62 on the Plantation Course.

Andrew Puttnam and Andrew Novak are one stroke further back on nine-under after rounds of 61 on the Seaside Course.

Thursday represented a continuation of what has been a decent finish to the season for Power, who was afflicted by injury woes in the summer and mustered only one top-10 showing across the year with an eighth-placed finish at the Valspar Championship in March.

Power performed strongly in both Mexico and Bermuda in recent weeks, only to be undone in the final round in both weeks.

He had lifted himself into contention ahead of the final round at the Bermuda Championship last weekend until a closing 73 saw him slip to 11th.
