Heavy rainfall forced round one of the Wistron Ladies Open to be suspended, with Ireland's Lauren Walsh in a share of the lead at the Sunrise Golf & Country Club.

The wet conditions forced officials to reduce the event to 54 holes on Wednesday but taking into account an inclement weather forecast and the course conditions, a further reduction to a 36-hole tournament was announced early on Friday.

The opening round will be completed on Saturday, with the now concluding round on Sunday.

Thailand's Kornkamol Sukaree is tied with Walsh on four under, with the pair still having six holes left to play of round one.

Walsh, who started the day on the tenth, shined early on with back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th. A further birdie on the 16th meant she was three-under par through her first seven holes. Despite dropping a shot on the 17th, she pulled it back with another two birdies before play was then suspended.

One shot behind the leading duo is Finland's Noora Komulainen in solo third place. Despite the tough conditions, she was able to card a birdie and an eagle in her first eight holes.

A total of 20 groups were still to go out to kick off their opening round including defending champion Chiara Tamburlini.
