Lauren Walsh is two shots off the lead at the halfway mark at the Swiss Ladies Open.
The Kildare woman's second round of 69 moved her up to seven under and within touching distance of Alice Hewson of England who posted a four-under 67.
Walsh, who is tied for second with Australia's Sarah Kemp, had a steady, bogey-free round, with back-to-back birdies on the ninth and 10th holes.
"It was a good day's work," said Walsh who celebrated her birthday on Thursday.
"Bogey free which is always nice. I played really solid again, and probably hit the ball better than yesterday. I think I converted a couple more times yesterday, but I'm happy with how I was hitting it, so more of the same tomorrow."
Walsh credited her short game for keeping the momentum going: "I think I missed maybe three greens, but I managed to get up and down each time, which was really important. You’re not going to hit every shot perfectly, so it was good to rely on my short game when I needed."
On the challenge that awaits in Saturday's third round, she continued: "I can only control what I do tomorrow and I’m just going to enjoy it out there. I've had a good two years here before and I've enjoyed this week so far."
Sara Byrne is four shots further back in a tie for 17th on three under, while Annabel Wilson is a further stroke behind.
Canice Screene narrowly missed the cut by one shot on two over after a six-over 77 and Olivia Mehaffey also missed out on the weekend after a level-par 71 left her on four over.
