Stephanie Meadow is in a battle to make the cut after a challenging opening round at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Ohio.

The County Antrim golfer posted an opening-round 73 to sit on one-over par, 10 shots off the clubhouse lead held by Thailand's Chanettee Wannasaen.

After opening five pars, Meadow briefly moved under par with a birdie at the par-five sixth, but bogeys would follow on the ninth and 18th holes.

Wannasaen carded an eagle and seven birdies in a bogey-free round of 63 to move to the front at TPC River's Bend.

Gigi Stoll is second on seven under, while a group of six share third place on six under, includding America’s Jenny Bae and Taiwan’s Pei-Yun Chien.
