Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow were both still on the front nine when their rounds were prematurely ended at the FM Championship in Boston on Friday.

Dangerous weather conditions caused three delays in play with half of the field still to finish their second rounds, including the Irish pair. Play will resume at 12 noon Irish time for the remaining 24 groups.

China's Miranda Wang took some 10 hours to complete her second round, but the wait was worth it as she carded a five-under 67 to eke out a two-stroke clubhouse lead at 11-under par.

Wang, in her first full year on tour, has missed four of the last seven cuts, but did finish in eighth place at the Blue Bay LPGA in early March.

The Duke University graduate started her round with two birdies and finished it with three in a row.

Sweden's Madelene Sagstrom posted a round of 66 and moved to nine-under after 36 holes.

Cavan’s Maguire had started the day on one-under par but had fallen back to level par after her round was called after just four holes. Starting at the 10th, Maguire opened with a trio of pars before a bogey at the 13th.

Meadow managed eight holes, and they were productive too as birdies at the first, third and seventh – along with a dropped shot at the sixth – meant that she moved to one-over par and closer to the projected cut-line of two-under par.
