Leona Maguire finished strongly in her opening round but still sits six shots adrift of the lead after Day 1 of the FM Championship in Massachusetts.
After a one-over front nine, Maguire finally recorded her first birdie at the 13 which was soon cancelled out by a dropped stroke at the 15. However, birdies at the short 16th and the par-5 18th would see her post a one-under par 71.
The lead is held by a trio of players on seven-under, Sei Young Kim of South Korea, USA's Allisen Corpuz and England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff all carding 65 at TPC Boston.
In a congested field, Nelly Korda and Celine Boutier are among those players on five-under heading into the second round.
Stephanie Meadow is well down the field on three-over par after beginning her round with a double-bogey 6 on the 10th.
