Leona Maguire remains in contention for her first major title but a level par score of 71 in her second round saw her slip down the standings and sit four shots off the lead at the Evian Championship.

The Cavan woman shared the lead at the end of day one in the French Alps but had a more inconsistent round today, going birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey in her last four holes to drop into a share of seventh on six under.

Before that, she had birdied the par-three second where she scored a hole-in-one on Thursday and lost a shot at the par-three eighth.

Maguire is one of a number of players four shots behind halfway leader Somi Lee of South Korea, who matched the Irish woman's opening-day 65 as she got to 10 under.

"Tee shots are really important on this course, but mine weren't great today," Lee told LPGA. "But I managed to make up for it with some solid putting.

"Right now, I’m concentrating on my putter and driver, keeping my rhythm – and we’ll see where that takes me."

Australian Grace Kim is a shot further back, with Jennifer Kupcho third on eight under and three players, Andrea Lee, Hye-Jin Choi and Jenny Shin, sharing third on seven under.

Atthaya Thitikul, Aditi Ashok, Rio Takeda and Gabriela Ruffels are on the same mark as Maguire.
