France's Martin Couvra will take a two-shot lead into the weekend as he looks to win his first DP World Tour title at the Turkish Airlines Open, while Ireland's Conor Purcell missed the cut by four shots.

The 22-year-old rookie started the day in a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard but pulled clear of the chasing pack courtesy of a five-under 66 at Regnum Carya.

Couvra has impressed during his maiden campaign at this level, having already posted four top-10 finishes, including fifth at the Hainan Classic last time out.

At 11 under, Couvra leads by two from South Africa's Wilco Nienaber, with China's Li Haotong a shot further back in third.

"I'm really happy about my game today - it's always good to have a bogey-free round," said Couvra.

Purcell, who was off the pace after Thursday's 75, finished on four over after an improved level-par 71 in his second round.

An eagle on the par-5 12th was the highlight of his round but that had followed a triple-bogey on the 11th while bogeys on 13 and 15 had sandwiched a birdie on the 14th in a topsy-turvy five-hole stretch.

The Portmarnock man did experience a steady front nine however, with birdies on three and five, although the cut mark (+1) was well out of reach.

Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald also won't be around for the weekend after a 72 left him on three over.
