Shane Lowry will attempt to "take the bull by the horns" as he bids to win a second major title in the 89th Masters.

The former Open champion has made no secret of his desire to add a green jacket to the Claret Jug he won in memorable fashion at Royal Portrush in 2019 and travelled to Augusta National on the back of a strong start to the season.

Lowry finished runner-up to close friend Rory McIlroy in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and recorded top-10 finishes in two of his last three starts on the PGA Tour, and can call on the memories of his tie for third at Augusta in 2022.

"I spent plenty of Masters tournaments coming in here not in form, not playing well, and this is the year where I feel like I'm playing OK and there’s no point shying away from that," said Lowry, who at a career high 12th in the world rankings, comes to Georgia in great form.

"I need to go out there and just sort of take the bull by the horns and be myself and see where it leaves me on Sunday.

"I think every time you get it you feel kind of blessed to have the invite back here. When my year starts in January this is always in the back of your mind.

"I love thinking about it, I love the flight up here on Sunday and just coming here and getting out here Sunday afternoon. It’s just such a special place.

"It’s hard to describe what it’s like and what it means to golfers. To come here and compete is one thing, to come here and try and to win one would be just something that would be a dream come true."
