Down golfer Beth Coulter carded a tidy opening-round 72 in today's first round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur.

Coulter got off to a rocky start, with a pair of bogeys on the first two holes, but she rallied to find birdies on the par-five ninth, par-four 12th and added another on the long 14th.

One more bogey awaited her on the tricky 16th hole, but two closing pars on 17 and 18 saw her sign for a 72, good enough for an early tie for 30th place.

American Megha Ganne leads the tournament after an incredible round of 63 which included seven birdies and an eagle on the par-five third, which leaves her sitting pretty on nine-under-par.

England's Lottie Woad sits two shots back after an opening 65.
