Conor Purcell has plenty of work to do Friday to make the cut at the Indian Open after shooting an opening round 75 at the DLF Golf and Country Club.

The Portmarnock native, who secured his DP World Tour Card last October, started his round brightly, but a pair of double bogeys undid much of his good work.

Purcell, who began his round on the 10th, birdied three of his first nine holes, but his first double bogey of the day on the 14th - his fifth hole - saw him reach the turn at one under par.

Bogeys on one, two and three and eight were mixed with birdies on the 4th and 8th holes, but the 27-year-old then double bogeyed his last hole of the day - the ninth - to finish on three over par.

It leaves him just outside the top 80 on the leaderboard with Marcus Armitage, Marcus Kinhult and Nicolas Colsaerts out in front on four under par.
