Seamus Power will go into Sunday's final round at the WM Phoenix Open 12 shots off runaway leader Thomas Detry after a third-round 69.

The Waterford native's efforts on Saturday leave him in a tie for 39th on six under at TPC Scottsdale.

He made a mixed start with bogeys on 14 and 18 sandwiching consecutive birdies on 15 and 16. But further birdies on the third and eighth saw him put a positive spin on his round.

Meanwhile, Detry extended his advantage at the top of the leaderboard to take a dominant five-shot lead into the final day.

LEADERBOARD

The Belgian began round three with a two-shot lead and enjoyed another successful day in Phoenix, where he carded seven birdies, including five on the first nine holes.

He then scored two more on the 14th and 17th before closing the day with a par score on the 18th.

Detry sits at the summit by quite a distance after scoring 65 on day three and is 18 under overall.

A four-way tie sees Rasmus Hojgaard, Daniel Berger, Jordan Spieth and Michael Kim all joint second with scores of 13 under.

Hojgaard also posted 65 as he shot up the leaderboard into second, while Kim was unable to build on his impressive 63 in round two after scoring 68 on Saturday.

Scotland's Robert MacIntyre is seven shots away from Detry after he carded 65 to move into seventh and sits one shot above world number one Scottie Scheffler, who posted 68 on day three.
