Lauren Coughlin recorded her second LPGA Tour victory in successive months with a four stroke victory in the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open at the Dundonald Links this afternoon.
Coughlin, who earned her maiden win in Canada last month, recovered from a shaky start on Sunday, in which she bogeyed two of the opening four holes, to post a three-under par 69, finishing four clear of Olympic silver medallist, Germany's Esther Henseleit.
The 31-year old American posted five birdies in total in her final round, including three down the closing stretch on 14, 15 and 18 to cruise home.
Megan Khang, one shot adrift at the outset, briefly drew level after Coughlin's ropey start, but slumped to a 74, with three bogeys and just a solitary birdie to finish tied-3rd on nine-under.
Leona Maguire, who crept inside the cut-mark after enduring a torrid week in Paris, posted a closing 74 to finish on +9 overall, tied 61st.
"I was, of course, not happy with it," Coughlin said of her iffy start. "But I mean, I knew it was playing super tough and that bogeys were unavoidable. Ihad done a pretty awesome job the previous two rounds not making any.
"So I knew that it was fine to make a couple but I could still go make some birdies coming in.
"I think if you would have told me (of her future wins) -- I mean let alone atthe beginning of this year but probably the beginning of last year -- I probably wouldn't believe you at all that this is what I've just done.
"But it's incredible and I think it just shows how hard I've worked toget here and it's ... amazing."
