Canadian Ben Silverman held the clubhouse lead at the Barracuda Championship after scoring 19 points in the co-sanctioned tournament at the Tahoe Mountain Club in California.

The only PGA–DP World Tour stroke-play event to use the modified stableford method, it is set to promote risk taking with -3 awarded for double-bogey or worse meaning players can pick up if they know a double bogey is the best they can do.

Starting on the 10th, the world no.120 hit seven birdies in his first nine holes and after a bogey at the first – his 10th – he carded three more birdies.

American Kelly Kraft sits second on 17 points with Sam Ryder three points further back with the final few golfers finishing on Friday morning.
