Matthew McClean, from the Malone club in Belfast, won the Flogas Irish Amateur Men's Open by two shots in County Sligo Golf Club at Rosses Point this afternoon.
McClean who qualified and played in the Masters at Augusta National last year, shot a final round 69 to pass overnight leader Liam Nolan from Galway Golf Club and finish on a winning total of 11 under par for four rounds.
"It feels great. I've tried for many years to get an Irish Championship, there's multiple times where I’ve not been on the winning end," said McClean.
"So it’s nice to hold on there. That’s obviously what most players are judged by. Whatever you do, how many seconds and thirds at the end of the day, it’s the win."
Fellow international Nolan shot a final round 75, to finish outright second on nine under with an Irish 1-2-3 completed by local County Sligo Club member TJ Ford in outright third place on six under.
