Conor Purcell will not play any part in the weekend's action at the Kenya Open after a six-over par round of 77 saw the Dubliner finish well outside the cut.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Starting his round on three-over par, the Dubliner needed a decent start to put himself in the mix for the weekend with a projected cut line hovering around level par/one-over.

A birdie at the first was the ideal start, but two bogeys in the next four holes saw him slip back.

The back nine was more of a struggle. A dropped shot at the 10th saw the 26-year-old slip to five-over and right up against it, but any hopes of a fightback were dashed at the par-three 13th where he fell to a double-bogey.

Dropped shots at the final two holes saw Purcell close for a 77 and finish at nine-over par with a cut line of level par.

Connor Syme eagled the last to take a share of the lead heading into the weekend in Nairobi.

Scot Syme finished his second round with a flourish

The 28-year-old Scot is looking for a first win on the DP World Tour and he put his second on the par-five 18th to five feet to sign for a 68 and join Dutchman Darius van Driel and Finn Tapio Pulkkanen at seven under.

"Pretty pleased," he said. "Actually didn't putt as well as I did yesterday but I felt like I played a little bit better today. It was nice to get a bonus eagle at the last to cap off a solid round of golf."

Pulkkanen also signed for a 68, one shot fewer than overnight leader Van Driel, with the trio one shot clear of Scot Ewen Ferguson, England's Sam Hutsby, Spaniard Manuel Elvira and Italy's Lorenzo Scalise.
