Challenge Tour graduates Casey Jarvis and Marco Penge occupy the top two places on the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
A month after Jarvis finished second behind Penge on the Road to Mallorca to earn their DP World Tour cards, the South African reversed those positions on home soil at Leopard Creek.
A second consecutive 67 gave Jarvis a halfway total of 10 under par and a one-shot lead over Penge, who made an eagle and five birdies in his 66.
Tournament specialist Charl Schwartzel, who has won the event four times and also finished second on four occasions, fired a 68 to share third place on eight under with compatriots Robin Williams and Christo Lamprecht and England's Paul Waring.
Jarvis, who made six birdies and one bogey in his 67, said: "Somebody here once said to me that at Leopard Creek the flag is a destination but you have to pick your targets.
"I’ve played a lot of golf here and I do know some secrets out there, and I’m using it to my advantage this week."
Jarvis was just a shot off the lead at the halfway stage of last week’s South African Open, but slumped to a tie for 52nd after rounds of 77 and 76 over the weekend.
"I had to get over it quickly," the 20-year-old said. "It’s a new week this week at a golf course I really like. I left that in the past and worked hard at the beginning of the week and it seems to be paying off.
"I’m hitting the ball great so I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and hopefully it pays off."
