Olivia Mehaffey endured a difficult first round at the Hero Women's Indian Open as she opened up with a 10-over par 82.
That left her outside the top 100 and 16 shots behind the leader, Norway’s Madelene Stavnar.
Only 16 players in all were under par after the first round at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram.
Mehaffey will need something special to make the cut with her scorecard containing a double bogey at the sixth and a triple bogey at the ninth.
Birdies on 11 and 18 offered a little bit of consolation but they were offset by seven bogeys.
Given the scoring, Stavnar’s round was extremely impressive with not a single bogey recorded.
Home player Dagar Diksha is a shot behind Stavnar on five-under.
Vani Kapoor, playing on her home course, is a shot further back in third.
