Johanna Gustavsson will take a one-shot lead heading the final round of the Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort in Finland, with Ireland's Olivia Mehaffey improving on her opening round of 73 to shoot a 66, a score that sees her tied for 11th, seven shots behind Gustavsson.
After storms interuppted the opening day's play, with many finishing their rounds early on Friday, including Mehaffey, who completed the final six holes of her rounds, conditions were more benign when play resumed.
Mehaffey began her second round with an eagle at the first and three birdies followed as she went out in 32. The Belfast native picked up four further shots on the way home, with bogeys on two holes, to see her finish five-under par.
Gustavsson started with birdies on five, six and seven as she sought to overtake leader Carmen Alonso. She picked up more shots on 11 and 12 before a birdie halted her momentum on the subsequent hole. However, the 30-year-old finished with birdies on 16 and 18 to finish at 12 under, a stroke clear of Alonso, who carded a 69.
Christine Wolf is a shot further back in third on 10-under-par, with Finland's Linda Osala and Meghan MacLaren fourth and fifth respectively on nine under and eight under.
