Leona Maguire's challenge at the Honda LPGA Thailand badly faded after a level-par 72 in her third round left the Cavan woman 11 shots adrift of leader Natthakritta Vongtaveelap.

Maguire started the day well in the hunt after a second round of 68 left her three strokes off Thai rookie Vongtaveelap at the $1.7m (€1.61m) tournament.

Maguire was four-under through 10 holes on Saturday, but five bogeys in her next seven holes derailed her charge, as she signed off on nine-under overall.

Conversely, Vongtaveelap caught fire to take control. She's 20-under for the tournament following a superb eight-under 64 that included an eagle on the first and three closing birdies.

Vongtaveelap is competing as a sponsor exemption after winning a national qualifier for the event earlier this year.

She's four shots clear of compatriot Atthaya Thitikul, with France's Celine Boutier a further shot back on 15-under.
