Power, the top-ranked player at the tournament, carded seven birdies and a solitary bogey in a six-under-par round that leaves him in a five-way tie for seventh on 12-under overall.

American Ben Crane currently leads the way on 14-under-par, one ahead of compatriots Robby Shelton, Ben Griffin, Austin Smotherman and Adam Schenk, and Australia's Aaron Baddely.

Crane shot the lowest round of the day, a stunning nine-under 62, while Baddeley and Griffin both carded 64s among the chasing pack.

Power's start was not ideal, with an immediate bogey on the 10th. But his response to that early setback was stirring, with a birdie on the next hole.

Further birdies on 14, 16 and 18 saw him build momentum before starting the front nine, which saw him birdie two, six and seven.
