A slow and steady round of one-under-par 70 edged Stephanie Meadow gently up the leaderboard heading into the final round of The Ascendant LPGA in Texas.

The Antrim golfer actually got off to a flying start with birdies at the first and second holes, but levelled off after that and gave one shot back on the par-three 16th.

It leaves Meadow in a tie for 34th spot, a full 10 shots off the lead of China's Xiyu Lin and Englishwoman Charley Hull.

Meadow gets her final round underway at 1.20pm Sunday, Irish time.

Lin joined Hull at the top of the leaderboard following the third round of play. After a stellar second-round 64 on Friday, Hull was only able to pick up three shots on Saturday, coupled with two bogeys and a double bogey on the par-four 10th hole.

She carded an even 71 for the third round at Old American Golf Club, while Lin's score of 69 was enough to join Hull at 11 under.

The pair head into Sunday's final round with a narrow one-shot lead over France's Celine Boutier and Australia's Lydia Ko
