Paul Dunne is three shots off the lead after the first round of the Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales.
Dunne was the best of the Irish, sitting in a tie for 15th place after a one-under round of 70 left him just three shots off the lead shared by Connor Syme, Dale Whitnell and Julien Guerrier.
The Greystones man hit 15 pars, two birdies and a single bogey.
Niall Kearney carded 72 but Jonathan Caldwell closed on 74 and Cormac Sharvin's chances of making the weekend look over after an 80.
