Xander Schuaffele's final-round 68 proved enough to hold off the chasing pack and triumph at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut.
The American held onto his overnight lead to finish on 19 under and win the tournament by two shots ahead of the pair of JT Poston and Sahith Theegala.
Rory McIlroy enjoyed a solid finish at the TPC River Highlands course with a three-under 67 that moved him up to nine under and a tie for 19th, while Seamus Power was a shot further back in a tie for 25th after a second consecutive round of 70.
McIlroy bogeyed the fourth and fifth holes as he made an inauspicious start to the final round but a birdie on the eighth settled him.
He then picked up four more shots on the back nine to finish with more of a flourish.
Power also started with two bogeys before a birdie on six. But another dropped shot on the ninth was followed by a further bogey on 12 before a stronger finish with birdies on 13, 15 and 17.
