Leona Maguire shot up the leaderboard with a fantastic third-round 68 at the Meijer LPGA Classic, but she remains seven shots behind leader Nelly Korda, who is on 18-under-par.


After opening with four pars, Maguire picked up here first shot at the par-three fifth with another following at the eighth to have her out in 34.

Back-to-back birdies followed at 10 and 11 to move her to 11-under-par and although she coughed up a shot at 13, she got it back at 17 to finish 11-under.

The Cavan golfer could have been closer too but Korda closed with an eagle to give her a one-stroke lead over fellow American Jennifer Kupcho.

Korda's long-range putt just dropped to a huge ovation and leaves her in pole position in Michigan.

It was her second eagle of the day with another arriving on eight with just one shot dropped on her round.
