Leona Maguire is just one stroke off the lead after the first round of the Drive On Championship at the LPGA Tour's Drive On Championship.
The Cavan woman recovered from a bogey on the 12th - her third hole - to sign for a six-under-par round of 66. Marina Alex and Nasa Hataoka are the leaders after the first day's play.
Maguire managed three birdies on her front nine, before adding a further five, and another bogey after the turn as she looks to build on last week's tie for 27th at the Gainbridge LPGA.
Stephanie Meadow meanwhile has a fight on her hands to make the weekend, despite managing a hole-in-one at the 14th hole - her fifth to move her to two-under at the stage.
"I had perfect number, little six-iron," she said of her ace.
"It was a little bit windy, and, I stripped it right at it. Wind never touched it and just rolled right up there into the hole. It's been a while since the I had a hole-in-one and first one in LPGA career, in a tournament, so it's very nice."
From there though she had three more bogeys as she finished on one-over-par, currently good enough for a tie for 81st place.
