American Scottie Scheffler shot a one-under 69 to be a one-shot leader after three rounds of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open.

At seven-under for the tournament he leads from a quintet at six-under including Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas and American Martin Trainer, the second round leader who followed two straight 65s with a four-over 74.

Aaron Rai, the only Briton to make the cut, shot an even 70 to be in a tie for 34th at even par for the tournament.

Shane Lowry, Graeme McDowell and Seamus Power all failed to make the cut.
