Leona Maguire remains in contention at the Pelican Championship with the Cavan native four shots off the lead ahead of Sunday's final round.

Maguire, who had initially lead the way after a sensational 62 in Thursday's first round, carded a 68 on Saturday to keep within striking distance of co-leaders Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda.

She is eighth on the leaderboard on 12 under at the Belleair course in Florida, following a round which featured four birdies and two bogeys.

Speaking at the conclusion of her round, Maguire said that sitting four shots adrift means she "probably needs another 62 tomorrow".

"We'll go out early and try and post a number," she added.

While Thompson maintained her hold on first place, fellow American Korda tied her atop the leaderboard with a field-best seven-under 63.

Korda's round was tied for second-best of the entire tournament - behind Maguire's first-day 62 - leaving her and Thompson at 16 under.

Jennifer Kupcho is a stroke back in third at 15 under after scoring a four-under 66.

Christina Kim and South Korea's Sei Young Kim, shot identical five-under 65 rounds, and they are both tied for fourth place.

Along with Maguire in eighth on 12 under, the rest of the top 10 includes New Zealand's Lydia Ko (64) and Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit (64), tied for sixth at 13 under, and two golfers tied for ninth at 10 under, Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum (67) and Mexico's Maria Fassi (68).
